2023 Remodeled Home Tour
Embracing the Future
Embracing the Future
This 1950’s interior home makeover has enhanced the homeowner’s livability as remote-working professionals. The new design focuses on the homeowner’s desire to age in place with better function, comfort, and style.

The home’s interior walls were reframed to enlarge & modernize the kitchen.
With the homeowner’s objective to eliminate fossil fuels, the new fireplace and all kitchen appliances are electric.
The kitchen cabinetry is frameless hickory mixed with white cabinets, quartz countertops, and blue & white backsplash accent tiles. A garden window was incorporated into the new kitchen design, along with a complimenting Dutch door.
During demolition, hazardous materials in the home, e.g. asbestos, required safety precautions and abatement.
The homeowner’s storage capacity was enhanced in the kitchen, including large pantry pull-outs, stand-up mixer storage, and a bar for cocktails, coffee, and wine.
Two massive stone fireplaces with chimneys and wood paneling were removed in the living and family rooms. Now these spaces are more open to each other, enhancing light, and improving traffic flow.
The office was revamped with new windows, flooring, paint, and millwork. A big improvement from the dated wood-paneling, now a vibrant and functional space for daily work.
Adjacent to the family room is the new bath & laundry room. These include a walk-in shower, comfort-height toilet, storage cabinetry and folding area above the washer & dryer.
Exterior work includes a built-in Tesla charger and custom siding updates as needed, to replicate the home’s era.
Other features include new and refinished hardwood flooring with seamless transitions, custom tile work, wood shelving, custom mantlepiece and built-in living room cabinetry.
