Elevated Coastal Living in Edmonds
Expansive windows and modern finishes created a bright coastal retreat with stunning views and accessible design suited for guests of all abilities.
A retired teacher and grandmother, our client raised her family in this Valley view home. With amazing potential for an enhanced territorial view, this project had been on our client’s mind for quite some time. She was very particular in selecting us as her design and build team. With deep roots in her community, it was important to her that she work with a local community-based team to design a new space while respecting the roots and craftsmanship that her late husband had helped build

The remodeled kitchen showcases custom craftsmanship with stained millwork framing the wall soffit, doors, and windows, adding both detail and warmth. A custom-built open-framed stained wood wall beside the range brings structure and character, inspired by the home’s Japanese-style pillar stair railings. A new peninsula with a cooktop and integrated downdraft allows for cooking while enjoying territorial views without obstruction, while new hardwood floors—custom-stained and finished—seamlessly replicate the home’s original flooring.
The open-concept layout makes cooking and entertaining effortless, connecting the kitchen to the living room for simultaneous use. Updated with cherry cabinets, quartz countertops, and a natural backsplash, the space reflects a soft mid-century style while accommodating modern conveniences like new appliances and a sink-side TV. The retained soffit enhances vaulted ceilings and natural light transference, and the preserved partial wall at the refrigerator and pantry maintains privacy near the home’s entrance. Now complete, the kitchen offers a beautiful panoramic view of the valley and Cascade Mountains from every angle.
